BUSINESS INTERNET FOR NYC, DONE RIGHT.

Verizon Fios, Spectrum, Optimum, Astound, we check availability at your address, pick the carrier that actually works on your block, and manage the install. One quote, one point of contact, no 1-800 hold music.

Why It Matters

The wrong carrier on your block is the difference between a working office and a frustrating one.

Every NYC commercial address has a different mix of carriers wired in. The block next door might have fiber in every building; yours might still be coax. A carrier that ranks #1 on review sites might have install backlogs in your neighborhood right now. Calling the carriers directly means hearing "we serve your area" from each of them, and only finding out which one actually works after a salesperson is in your office.

What we do is the unglamorous version of that: check what's actually available at your specific address, factor in install timelines and known issues in your neighborhood, and recommend the carrier we'd pick if it were our own office. Pricing is the same as going direct, we just save you the legwork.

Carriers We Work With

The 4 NYC business ISPs we work with.

Coverage varies block by block. We check availability at your address before recommending anything. For a deep dive on how the carriers compare in real Brooklyn buildings, read our Brooklyn business internet provider comparison.

Verizon Fios Business

Symmetric fiber where it's available. Generally the strongest option for upload-heavy workflows (cloud backup, video, multi-site). Best in much of Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Install timelines depend on whether fiber is already in the building.

Spectrum Business

Widely available across all 5 boroughs over cable. Reliable, competitive pricing, fast typical install. Asymmetric speeds (faster download than upload), fine for most small businesses, less ideal if you're uploading heavy video or running on-prem servers.

Optimum Business (Altice)

Strong in much of Brooklyn, the Bronx, and parts of Queens and Westchester. Mix of cable and fiber depending on address. Often competitive on pricing and has fiber options in newer-build commercial spaces.

Astound Business (formerly RCN)

Solid option in Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. Hybrid fiber-coax network with business-class support. Often a strong fit when Verizon Fios isn't available at the address.

Speed Tiers

Right speed for the team you have.

Picking too low means slowdowns during peak hours. Picking too high means paying for headroom you'll never use. Here's the typical fit by team size and workflow:

Basic

100-300 Mbps

Small offices (under 10 people), email + light cloud apps + occasional video calls. The realistic floor for any modern small business.

Standard

300-500 Mbps

Most NYC small businesses (10-25 people). Video calls, cloud apps, multiple file transfers, without slowdowns at 2pm.

Fast

500 Mbps - 1 Gbps

Larger teams (25-50+), heavy video, large file transfers, or design/media-heavy workflows. Headroom for growth.

Max

1 Gbps+

Gigabit fiber for cloud-heavy workflows, on-prem servers, or multi-gig where available. Future-proof for any small business.

How It Works

From "we need internet" to up-and-running.

01

Address Check

Send us your address and rough team size. We check what every NYC business carrier offers at that exact location, fiber, cable, install timeline, pricing.

02

Carrier Pick

We recommend the right carrier based on what's actually available, install timeline, and known reliability in your area. You get the reasoning, not just a name.

03

Written Quote

Line-itemed quote: speed tier, monthly cost, install fee (if any), contract term, static IP if needed. Within 24-48 hours of address check.

04

Install

We coordinate scheduling, building access (COI if required), and the technician visit. Typical install: 1-2 weeks for cable, 2-6 weeks for fiber depending on the building.

05

Live + Supported

Once live, issues route to us first. Outages, slow speeds, billing questions, call us instead of the carrier's general queue.

Business Internet FAQ

Common questions from NYC business owners.

Which business internet carrier is best for my NYC address?

It depends on the address. Verizon Fios is generally the strongest option where it's wired in, symmetric fiber speeds, business-class support. Spectrum (Charter) is widely available across all 5 boroughs with reliable cable internet at competitive prices. Optimum (Altice) is strong in parts of Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx with fiber and cable. Astound (formerly RCN) is a solid option in Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. We check availability at your exact address before recommending anything.

What's the difference between business internet and residential internet?

Three things matter: service level, support response time, and contractual reliability. Business plans typically come with faster issue resolution, dedicated business support lines, more generous (or no) data caps, and contractual uptime expectations. Static IPs are usually available as an add-on. Residential plans are cheaper but if internet goes down on a Monday morning, you're in the same queue as everyone whose Netflix isn't working.

How long does business internet install take?

Timelines vary by carrier and how the address is wired today. Cable internet (Spectrum, Optimum) typically installs within 1-2 weeks once scheduled. Fiber installs (Verizon Fios, fiber from other carriers) can range from 2-6 weeks depending on whether the building has fiber drop service in place. Newly-fibered buildings can sometimes install in days; older buildings may need additional construction. We give you a realistic timeline as part of the quote.

Why use LightningVoIP instead of going to the carrier directly?

Three reasons. First, we check availability across all 4 major NYC carriers in one pass, you don't make 4 phone calls. Second, we know which carriers have install problems in which neighborhoods and steer you accordingly. Third, when something goes wrong post-install, you call us, not a 1-800 number that puts you on hold. Pricing through us is competitive with going direct.

Do you offer internet without voice service?

Yes. Business internet is its own service. Many of our customers bundle voice + internet because there's a workflow benefit (one bill, one company to call), but you can absolutely buy internet alone. We'll quote it that way without trying to upsell.

What internet speeds do small businesses actually need?

For most NYC small businesses with under 25 employees, 300-500 Mbps is the sweet spot, enough headroom for video calls, cloud apps, and a few people downloading files at once, without overpaying for capacity you'll never use. Heavier video, large file transfers, or 25+ employees in one space pushes you toward 1 Gbps. If you're running cloud-heavy workflows or hosting servers on-prem, gigabit or multi-gigabit fiber is worth it.
