Moving Offices in NYC? Keep Your Number and Your Uptime.
An office move is the moment most businesses find out how tangled their phones and internet really are. It doesn't have to be.
Two things have to come with you when you move: your phone service and your internet. Phones are the easy part. The internet depends on what's already wired into the building, and that's the piece worth checking before you commit. Here's how a move actually goes, and how we keep you live through it.
Your phones move with you (if they're in the cloud)
On a cloud phone system, a move is easy. Your numbers, extensions, voicemail, and auto-attendant live in the cloud, not in a box on the wall. Plug your phones in at the new address, get on the internet, and you're live with the same numbers. No reprinting cards, no telling customers a new number, no downtime.
If you're still on an old on-prem system or copper lines tied to the building, moving is the hard way: new lines ordered at the new address, sometimes new numbers, and a gap while it all provisions. If you're moving anyway, it's the natural moment to cut over to cloud so the next move is trivial. We port your existing numbers as part of the switch.
The internet question: what's already in the building?
Business internet at a new address isn't automatically slow, but it isn't automatically ready either. It comes down to what's already in the building. If the provider you need is already in the building, turning your circuit up is often just 3 to 5 business days. If that carrier isn't in the building yet, bringing one in is a much bigger job and can take weeks. Either way, you want to know which situation you're in before you sign the lease, not after.
Here's a mistake that catches people: you walk the new space, you see wall jacks and outlets, and you assume it all just works. Most of the time it does. But most of the time is not something to gamble your move-in day on. We confirm the building actually has active service, that the provider and speed you need are really available there, and that those jacks are live, before you're committed.
As soon as you have the new address, we check what's available across Verizon Fios, Spectrum, Optimum, and Astound for that specific building, give you real timelines, and get the order in early. Starting a week or two out gives us time to survey the space and clear up anything that could bite you before it does. And if anything is going to run tight against your move-in date, we drop in 5G LTE backup so you're online and taking calls on day one, then cut to the wired line when it's ready.
Static or dynamic, and what actually needs wiring
One thing worth settling up front is whether you need a static or a dynamic connection. A dynamic IP is the default: the provider gives you an address that can change over time, and for most offices that's completely fine. You want a static IP, an address that stays fixed, if you host your own server, run a VPN back into the office, need remote access to on-site cameras or equipment, or run certain phone or security systems. We tell you which one your setup actually needs, so you're not paying for a static IP you don't need or missing one you do.
The other piece people underestimate is wiring. A new space usually needs lines run before anyone sits down: data drops for computers and servers, cabling for your phones, and runs for Wi-Fi access points. Sometimes the existing cabling is fine, sometimes it's a mess or missing entirely. We pull and terminate what you need so your desks, phones, and network are ready on day one, not a week later.
What NYC buildings throw into the mix
Moving an office in New York is not moving an office anywhere else. We handle the building-specific things that trip people up: certificates of insurance for the freight elevator, building access and union rules for the install, riser and demarc access, and older or landmark buildings where the wiring is its own adventure. Knowing all of this ahead of time is the difference between a smooth Friday cutover and a Monday with no phones.
One local team for the whole move
We handle the connectivity side of your move end to end: business phone service, business internet at the new address, structured cabling and Wi-Fi for the new floor, and managed IT to tie it together. One company, one number to call, and we show up in person, same borough, same day. Serving Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island.

Will we keep our phone number when we move?
Yes. On a cloud system your numbers come with you, all we do on our end is update the service address on the account. If you're moving off old lines, we port your existing numbers as part of the switch, so customers never see a change.
How far ahead should we start?
As soon as you have the new address, and at least a week or two before move-in to be safe. If the provider you need is already in the building, internet can be live in about 3 to 5 business days, but that week or two of runway is what lets us survey the space, catch anything that could cause a problem, and resolve it before it becomes one. If the carrier you need isn't in the building yet, give it even more lead time.
Will our phones go down during the move?
No. Your numbers ring on the mobile and desktop apps and can forward to any cell, so you keep taking calls even mid-move, before the new internet is live. Once you're set up at the new space you're back to normal, so there's never a gap in service.
What if the internet isn't ready by move-in day?
We plan for it. If the carrier circuit won't be live in time, we bring in 5G LTE backup so you open with working phones and internet, then cut over to the wired line once it's installed.
