Toshiba Repair First. Replacement Only When It's Time. Brooklyn-Based, All 5 Boroughs.

Toshiba exited the US phone system market in 2017. Strata and IPedge systems still run in plenty of NYC offices, but parts are getting harder to find. We service them while it makes sense, and migrate them cleanly when it doesn't.

The Toshiba situation in NYC

Toshiba was a major player in business phones for decades, Strata DK, then CTX, then CIX, then IPedge. In 2017, Toshiba sold the business phone division and exited the US market. Active development ended. The platforms still work, but the support ecosystem keeps thinning. Replacement parts come mostly through refurbished-equipment dealers now. Proprietary phones (DKT, DP, IPT series) are getting harder to source at reasonable prices.

On top of the supply-side decline, the carrier services many older Toshiba systems run on, analog lines, T1, PRI from Verizon and other legacy carriers, are being retired. The FCC approved a Verizon-backed copper retirement order in March 2026. If your Toshiba uses copper or PRI, the carrier side may force a decision before the Toshiba itself does.

Toshiba systems we service

If your Toshiba isn't on this list, ask us anyway. We've worked with most of what's still running.

Repair or replace

Repair makes sense when: your system is running stably, replacement parts you need are still available at reasonable cost, and you don't need the modern features cloud systems offer (mobile apps, multi-level IVR, queue callback, hot desking).

Replacement makes sense when: parts are scarce or prohibitively expensive, maintenance costs exceed cloud-system equivalent, your carrier has notified you of copper or PRI retirement, or you need features the Toshiba can't deliver.

The middle path: stage the migration. Keep the Toshiba running while we build the cloud system in parallel. Cutover when the new system is ready and tested. We do this for offices that want to spread the cost and risk across a longer timeline.

A working Strata system that doesn't need anything for another year isn't a problem. A Strata with failing line cards you can't easily replace IS a problem.

What migration looks like

Typical project: 2 to 4 weeks from signed quote to live cutover. We come on-site for discovery, map your existing extensions and call routing onto the new cloud system, parallel-build everything, then execute the cutover during a weekday morning window. Your Toshiba stays operational until the new system is verified. Number porting takes 7 business days on the carrier side.

The new system includes features Toshiba couldn't easily deliver, mobile and desktop softphone, multi-level auto-attendant, queue callback, hot desking, custom hold music, conference bridges, call recording. None of these are add-ons; they're standard with our Business plan.

Pricing

Number porting, on-site install, and staff training are included. No long-term contracts. See the full pricing page or learn about our cloud voice service.

Why a Brooklyn-based provider

National providers will sell you a cloud phone system. They won't show up at your office to trace the punch-down block that the original Toshiba tech labeled in 2002. We do, because we're physically based in Brooklyn and our techs are NYC residents. No subcontractors, no offshore call center. The same person you talk to during install is the person you reach for support.

Frequently asked questions

Which Toshiba systems do you service?

Strata DK (DK16, DK40, DK280, DK424), Strata CTX (CTX28, CTX100, CTX670), Strata CIX (CIX40, CIX100, CIX200, CIX670), and IPedge. Most Toshiba systems still in NYC small business offices.

Why are Toshiba phone systems failing now?

Toshiba exited the US business phone market in 2017; product line was sold and active development ended. Replacement parts are increasingly scarce. Carrier-side analog and PRI lines are being retired, which forces decisions even when the Toshiba is still working.

Can I keep my existing Toshiba phones?

Almost never. Toshiba DKT (digital), DP (digital), and IPT (IP) phones are proprietary to Strata and IPedge, they can't register against a cloud PBX. New Yealink IP phones are included with the Business plan.

How long does migration take?

2 to 4 weeks from signed quote to live cutover. Discovery, parallel build, number porting + cutover, training. Your Toshiba stays operational until the new system is verified.

What if I want to keep my Toshiba running for now?

We service it. Hardware repair, programming, T1/PRI troubleshooting, voicemail maintenance. We're honest about when repair stops making economic sense.
